Did the Forum disappear?

SaizaSaiza Posts: 1,900Member
I tried to log into the forum today, and when I was on the regular site the Discussion tab was gone at the top of the screen. It now says spoilers, I thought the forum was gone. I clicked on swaps, and was able to see the Discussion tab from there; but why is it not on the main review site? @chris @Liz Cadman Did anyone else have problems or was it just me? I'm still able to get to the forum on my phone too, so it's weird.

Hi @Saiza I had the same experience, so it isn't just you. Thank you for posting about it as I didn't take it he time to do so.

You could send some people a box of roses, and they'd complain about the thorns, or the smell, or the color.

@Saiza We've been doing some updates to the homepage to improve load time, and we thought the link to the forum might get more visibility on the side gutter:

Let me know what you think!

Agree 100% @BestAuntEver. I hardly ever look at the side gutter on the blog. The more "stuff" that's there, the less I pay attention.

@Kaof17 @BestAuntEver I thought it was just me on my phone that couldn't click on the "comments" part... figured it was my stupid phone! Thought I was going nuts... Glad go hear I'm not alone

The "discussions" link is still at the top of the "swaps" main page, so only one extra click. But, it is still more cumbersome and less user friendly. There is way too much scrolling involved in finding the Forum now on the sidebar.

I noticed it and just thought it was a temp glitch.. these things happen. I mostly go straight to swaps or the forum from my own history and shortcuts but I was on the main page looking for reviews at the time. I use all three (forum, reviews, swaps) but use the links for forum and swap the most.

Thanks for the feedback everyone - we're still making changes, so I'll keep this in mind.

Also - FYI this change was only on desktop - the navigation has not changed on mobile.

Old habits die hard... I went to the MSA homepage and clicked comments, only to recall they're not clickable. So I went to the navigation to click the forum... only to remember the link's gone. I think I'm going to take a break til the site becomes usable again. :p

EVERYTHING CHANGED. My reply boxes are all expanded (can't shrink them back down) and the forum homepage went bonkers with TINY text! Oh man I hope this is only temporary!

Edit: Phew, it's back to normal.

I panicked at first when I didn't see the forum! Thankfully I found it!

@Randi2 The easiest way for me is to go to swaps, then the discussion tab is back.

    @reneew thanks! that works!

I wasn't sure if I was missing it somewhere on the home page or what

@Heathery if I wasn't on a work computer, I would completely have a bookmark too! but I usually just have at least 3 tabs open all the time on the computer (main page, forum, swaps)

on my phone all of the msa sites are my most frequently used ones so the addresses just pop up whenever I click on the address bar (I probably have them book marked though too...)

@Heathery Nope, me too. However, I think I do need you to tell me what 'Dramafever' is. I feel like I need to be a part of that immediately.

@Heathery @BestAuntEver DramaFever = Korean Dramas! Heathery, do you have a favorite? I watched Descendants of the Sun months ago and loved it, but I can't find another one that hooks me in again. I'd love to find another if you have any recommendations!

@lalala thank you for summing up EXACTLY the same thought process I was having LOL. I thought it was probably only affecting people on iPads and mobile devices, but I see that's not the case.

Had I not had a direct link saved, I would have never thought to look for that "Forum" icon. Hope it goes back to the way it was ☹️

@BestAuntEver gooorrrlll... I see that @MisaMisa loled at your comment, so I know she's like "oh boy here Heathery goes" lol.

But yeah, like @Renee said, it's a site to stream Asian dramas. Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Taiwanese. They have English subtitles if you're wondering if we speak all of those languages lol. Asian dramas are addictive, but I also like that they have a clear beginning, middle, and end. There's no going on and on for 7 seasons, slowly getting worse until it's canceled. Most shows are 16-24 episodes for K, J, and TW. Some Chinese shows can get much higher than that if they're historical (most Chinese are).

Renee, I've been watching dramas for about 9 years, so I've seen a few too many to really have a favorite lol. Maybe Scarlet Heart Ryeo or The Moon That Embraces the Sun. Here's the ones I've rated 8-10 on my drama list though, and I'm pretty picky about ratings. Most of what I watch is historical (either real or made-up history) and probably has a supernatural or time travel element. Although I do like a good school setting too. Ice Fantasy is my current obsession because it's major #costumeporn.

@Heathery OMG. That spreadsheet. I don't know you, but I kind of love you. I'm gonna check out Scarlet Heart Ryeo first. Thanks!

@Renee I'd love to take credit and seem super organized with a spreadsheet, but it's actually MyDramaList.com lol. All I have to do is select shows I've seen and apply a rating to them and it compiles my list. :#
